Welcome to our club!
Our club is based in Lakewood, WA. We have members from all over Pierce and Thurston counties. We meet for mounted lessons the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month - usually! Check our calendar for our 2016 dates! Our mounted lessons are usually at Klear Mont Farm in Lakewood but in the spring and summer we try to get out and about riding at places like Rainbow Meadows and more!
Our Unmounted meetings are the third Thursday of the month at the Woodbrook Hunt Club clubhouse at 7 pm. We try to have social time 30 minutes prior and will sometimes coordinate a pizza party or potluck. Our Unmounted meeting schedule is posted to our website under "Curriculum".
We have a wonderful camp every year that the kids (and really, who are we kidding, our parents) work hard all year raising money to help offset the costs. Our camps move around from year to year. We've had them at Polestar Farm with Meika Decher as our instructor, Aspen Farms with Kim Miles instructing, Elk Haven with Jim Briggs, and Washington State Horse Park with Natalie Shaw. For 2015 our members head back to Polestar for great learning opportunities with Meika! Camps are full of riding, crafts, camp fires, swimming, barbecues and more. The girls and boys (Yes, we have boys too!) have a great time hanging out and playing around!
We also have clinics throughout the year. These vary depending on interest and availability but we've done show jumping with Liz Tukey and hosted Daniel Stewart and his Pressure Proof Your Riding clinic just this past year at Aspen Farms.
We are a very active club! We send at least one team to the majority of the NW Region Rallies including TET, Games, Quiz, EBTH and multiple teams (up to 3 so far but we'll send as many that want to go!) to the Dressage and Show Jumping rallies.
As a club we have taken on the Regional commitment to host a D Dressage Rally. This year it will be held at Tacoma Unit #1! This is pretty exciting for us to have it more centralized and closer to home for our club! We also put on a few fundraisers each year. These vary depending on the year but have included hosting a 1-Day Event at the former Northwest Equestrian Center, handing out T-shirts and bobble-heads for Emerald Downs, hosting an all ages schooling show, and making horse head Christmas wreaths.
Because we are associated with the historical Woodbrook Hunt Club we have several members that Hunt on a regular basis! It's a great way to keep your pony in shape over the winter and get them out sight-seeing! We host a "Breakfast" each year for the Blessing of the Hounds Hunt" which is always great fun full of great food following the theme of St. Huberts Feast.
We also have several moms that are active in riding too, so if you're a mom (or dad!) and like to ride let us know! There are fun opportunities for you to ride with us!
